My List of Indulgence

1. Running Shoes--Brook Glycerine

This is what I currently run in--Brook Glycerine 5

The cushioning feels just right, and I feel faster in them. Definitely sticking with Glycerine 6 once I log enough miles on the Glycerine 5...plus, it's purple.

2. Tennis Racket--Wilson K Factor Sting

I never imagined owning a tennis racket because in the past 28 years of my life, I've played tennis for less than 5 times. Well, old dogs can learn new tricks. I started playing tennis since this past spring, and I am loving it now.

3. Lululemon Athletica

Lululemon makes Yoga outfits, but they are great for any general athletic activities. (or just for cruising around) Lululemon's clothes are comfortable, low maintenance, and most important of all, make you feel powerful while wearing them. The only downside is that Lululemon is a bit pricey.

4. Laura Geller Cosmetics

I spend less than 10 minutes putting on makeup on average. I hate mascaras, and I rarely put colors on my lips. I recommend Laura Geller cosmetics because their color blends are subtle and easy to apply.

5. Turquoise Boutique

Turquoise Boutique is my Seattle discovery. The store is located at the U District in Seattle. I liked pretty much everything in the store, and the prices are very reasonable. Thanks to the Internet, though I am more than 2500 miles away, I can still shop there!!

By 徐佳瑩

More Singing Competition Show Post--

My favorite contestant will be leaving the show. No!!!

This performance was the first time I heard 美珍's voice. I love the song choice (女爵), and I love her rocker girl voice.

I don't really like contestants singing English songs, but I really enjoyed this performance of her. I like the song so much that I looked up the lyrics and learned to sing it myself...something I haven't done in a long long time.

Addicted to Singing Competition Shows

I am a singing competition show addict. I love watching American Idol, and I also follow this "Taiwanese Idol" show (超級星光大道) on youtube. Here is my favorite contestant.

Not her best performance, but I enjoyed it a lot because it reminded me of my very very first Karaoke years.

I never heard this song before, but I found out it's a theme song for a Kong-Fu drama. She did a great job for the high notes, I thought it was pretty powerful.

When everything is made in China

Mattel Inc., the largest U.S. toy company, recalled 18 million Chinese-made toy items on Tuesday due to safety risks from lead paint. And that is after recent recalls of toothpaste, pet foods, and tires which were all made in China.

Well, it's hard to buy things not made in China these days, but for your own good, avoid Chinese-made product that will go into your body. And when you buy that made in China picture frame, make sure your baby can't reach it and put it his or her mouth. I've heard too many terrifying stories about unethical business practice in China. i.e. use human hair to make soy sauce; bleaching used menstrual pads for "recycle" sale...

So, when I go Asian grocery shopping, I NEVER buy food imported from China; I only buy Taiwanese brand or food products made in the U.S. Check the address printed on the package, usually you'll be able to tell where its from.

How can we live without Google!

I started using the Internet about 10 years ago, and I remember getting on those old-fashioned search engines for my high school papers with the dial-up modem. For example, if I wanted information about the Shenandoah National Park, I would need to go to [Travel]-->[United States]-->[Virginia]-->[Outdoor], and maybe find something, if I was lucky.

Today, Google knows everything, and it only takes a few seconds to lookup random information. I guess a lot of us just take it for granted, but seriously, how can we live without Google!?

Wedding Banquet

I remembered a scene from the movie "Wedding Banquet" directed by Ang Lee—2 people passing by a crazy & wild Chinese wedding banquet, and one said to the other, "I thought Chinese people are quiet and good at math."

So I went to Tammy and Jerry's wedding this past weekend. It was the BEST party I've ever been to, period. And the movie scene in "Wedding Banquet" kept coming to my mind. The open bar made everybody merry before dinner; the food reminded me of home (actually, the whole town Flushing in New York reminded of home). I loved every song the DJ played, and the super MCs did a fantastic job entertaining the crowd.

Great times!
